Working out during pregnancy doesn't need to be complicated.

We talk so much about modifying intense or heavy workouts but not enough about how to make working out accessible for someone who doesn't have a fitness background.

First check with your physician if you and babe are safe to partake in fitness. There are a few medical exceptions.

Then do what you enjoy! Add some resistance and take into account some things in this video.

ACOG recommends
150 minutes a week or 30 mins 5 times a day of moderate intensity physical activity.

Exercise can decrease your risk of gestational diabetes, preeclampsia and even cesarean deivery. There are also some cool studies looking at decreases in diabetes in your child as an adult 🤯

So if you need some guidance check out a trainer qualified for pregnancy and postpartum! Have a one time visit with a PT to give you some guidance and then do your own thing.

Ever been told to hangout in a deep squat to help

Ever been told to hangout in a deep squat to help relax and stretch your pelvic floor?

Well it's an option! Great for after a workout for people with pelvic pain, urinary urgency or frequency or constipation...buuutttt

Unless you can comfortably hangout in a deep squat then your pelvic floor is actually working to hold you up, it's supposed to, it's a core muscles.

So here are some of my favorite modifications to allow you to keep your ribs stacked over your pelvis, breathe deeply and relax your pelvic floor.

✅hold onto something in front of you
✅ prop yourself against a wall and sit on a yoga block
✅not pictured, put something under your heels

Hangout here for a couple minutes, relax your pelvic floor (unclench Your butt hole) and breathe deeply.

This is also great in the third trimester for birth prep.
